Saints bid for more League Cup glory

THE New Saints are bidding for more League Cup glory when they host Newtown in the semi-final first leg at Park Hall on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

Winners of the trophy for the past three seasons, Craig Harrison's men will be hopeful of taking a giant step towards a fourth consecutive final appearance after beating Bangor City, Rhyl and Llanelli in their last three appearances in the showpiece.
With an important Welsh Premier fixture against Prestatyn Town on Friday night, tonight's clash is again an opportunity to give a run out to squad players short of league appearances.
TNS have done the double over the Robins in Welsh Premier action this season, but were made to battle hard before securing a 3-1 Christmas win at Latham Park, before a comfortable 4-0 New Year win at Park Hall.
The relegation-haunted visitors gave a good account of themselves before losing 3-2 at Carmarthen on Saturday and, after dumping Bangor out of the competition, will view the League Cup as a rare chance of success.
