TNS withdraws from feeder leagues

THE New Saints have confirmed that they will withdraw their teams from the Spar Mid Wales League and the Montgomeryshire Amateur League from the 2009/10 season.
"Having considered our football development strategy very closely over the pre-season period, it was a difficult decision to make," says general manager Ian Williams.
"However, it was made upon the FAW’s decision to withdraw reserve teams playing at level three in the pyramid structure from 2010/11 and as no alternative structure had been offered for Welsh Premier reserve teams within the strategy changes imposed by the FAW at the level required by our club."
"The club's scholarship programme, which has been in existence for six seasons, and has produced six professional players during that time, has formed the basis of the club’s reserves and colts teams over that period.
"We will continue to play competitive football through our scholarship structure as well as considering other playing opportunities for young players at the club," added Williams.
