Wembley final woe for TNS Ladies

TNS Shrewsbury suffered Wembley woe, losing in extra-time of the final of the Umbro Fives on Saturday.
TNS lost out to favourites Watford, who won the title in 2007 and were beaten finalists last year.
But it was the Shropshire girls who took the lead through Abi Cottam's left-foot effort before the southern side levelled.
The Watford keeper made superb saves denying Sally Jones, Alicia Robinson and Cottam before the London side clinched the game in the added three minutes.
Earlier, TNs beat highly-fancied Bristol City 3-0 with goals from captain Jones, Robinson and Cottam.
Next up was Brockenhurst who were well beaten 5 – 2, with goals from Jones, Robinson, Finola Corley and Cottam.
Already assured of a place in the semi-finals TNS lost 4-0 to Curzon Ashton before meeting Preston North End in the last four.
With only three mins gone TNS found themselves 2-0 down, but an amazing turnaround put TNS 3-2 ahead, before a late equaliser from the Lancastrians.
But after sharing a goal apiece in extra-time, TNS won the penalty shoot-out to reach the final.
Team: Tammy Evans (GK), Finola Corley, Sally Jones (cap), Alicia Robinson, Abi Cottam,
Vicky Gutteridge, Emily Ridge, Kim Bebbington.
TNS manager Steve Whitfield would like to thank Burnt Tree Vehicle Hire of Shrewsbury for their kind gesture in providing a mini-bus for the trip to London.
