Saints target an early goal

THE New Saints have targeted an early goal as key to overturning their 2-1 first-leg defeat by Fram Reykjavik in the Europa League on Thursday night.

"With a good start and the crowd behind us, we have every chance of winning," assistant boss Mike Davies told BBC Radio Shropshire.
With over 1,000 seats installed to satisfy UEFA criteria, the club is hosting its own home leg for the first time.
"It means a lot to play in Oswestry," Davies added. "It's exciting for us and for the town."
The Saints have yet to progress beyond the first qualifying stage - but went close two years ago when they lost on away goals to the Latvian side Ventspils in the Champions League.
"The club's had some tough draws in the past, but we've got the perfect opportunity to go through this time," said midfielder Craig Jones - one of seven new arrivals at Park Hall.
The summer signing from Rhyl added: "There's a great feeling in the squad, everyone's been working hard, we feel fit. If we get that early goal, then I think we can get two or three more."
