Mixed academy results at Airbus
Wednesday 24 February 2021
The Under-12s went into a two goal lead and really should have sealed a victory but spurned several good chances on a difficult pitch.
Towards the end we tired due to the heavy ground and the fact that several players had also played the day before for their local teams.
All credit must be given to the Airbus lads who took advantage and finally ran out 3-2 winners.
The moral of this defeat is that two games in two days is too much for any player regardless of their age.
The Under-16s ran out 4-2 winners and all credit to this group as they have only been together since the season started and have shown superb form and togetherness from the start.
Well done to coaches Steve Benyon, Scott Ruscoe and all involved.
On Wednesday 17th we played Flint at Under-11 level and despite a snow covered pitch both teams did their best to play football although conditions were awful.
Defensively and in midfield both teams were very strong and along with the conditions underfoot this led to very little goalmouth action.
The result was decided by the only goal of the game which gave Flint a 1-0 victory.
The Under-13s game scheduled for later was called off due to snow on the pitch.
Last Sunday our Under-15s played Ludlow and came away with an excellent 7-1 victory and as a group they have also made a vast improvement since the outset of the season.
Again we congratulate Ed Baldwin, Matt Jones and the squad and we look forward to them continuing their success next season.
