Saints' next opponents dent rivals' title hopes

HAVERFORDWEST County - who are The New Saints' next opponents - dented the title hopes of rivals Llanelli with a 1-1 draw at Stebonheath Park on Thursday night.

The Reds were held, despite taking a 16th-minute lead through marksman Rhys Griffiths, who joined Bangor City's Jamie Reed on the 22-goal mark in the race for the Golden Boot.
Hudgell (pictured) grabbed what proved to a point-saver for the visitors on the stroke of half-time.
There was little to choose between the sides in the second-half, but Griffiths squandered a great chance to win the game when he shot wide of the target with the goal at his mercy in the 75th minute.
Llanelli now trail The New Saints by eight points with just two games in hand, which means that the Welsh Premier leaders currently need five points at most from their remaining two games to clinch the crown, even if their rivals win all their remaining games.
But, with a five goals superior goal difference, four points may even be enough for TNS, who also host Derek Brazil's Haverfordwest on Saturday followed by a difficult away trip to Aberystwyth on the last day of the season.
