Andy Cale quits after fifth title triumph
Monday 26 April 2021
HAVING secured a fifth Welsh Premier title in three separate spells with The New Saints Football Club, Dr Andy Cale has decided to call time on his role, with Mike Davies taking up the responsibility of first team manager.
Cale, who returned to the club as first team coach and mentor to Mike Davies when former manager Ken McKenna left in 2008, says: "I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the players over the past couple of seasons since my return to the club and they deserve a lot of credit for clinching the Welsh Premier title again this season.
"I'm sure Mike Davies has the qualities to continue the good work established at the club, and I wish him and everyone at the club every success in the future."
The New Saints' managing director, Mike Harris, was full of praise for the work undertaken by Dr Cale over a number of years.
"I've personally and professionally known and worked with Andy Cale for over 10 seasons and he has achieved great things for the club, culminating in another Welsh Premier title triumph this season," said Harris.
"Mike Davies has been mentored by Andy Cale over the past couple of seasons and will take over the role and will be responsible for first team affairs on a day to day basis."
