Saints go down to Brennan goal

A 66TH-minute goal from Killian Brennan saw The New Saints lose their Champions League first leg tie to Bohemians 1-0 at Dublin's Dalymount Park.

The Gypsies deserved their win, but the only surprise on a rain-soaked night was that there were no further goals in a game where both sides had plenty of chances.
Brennan scored with a 12-yard header from striker Paddy Madden's cross as the home side piled pressure on the Saints in the second-half.
Bohs made an edgy start in front of their own fans and Matthew Berkeley came close to putting TNS in front after eight minutes, firing wide after Chris Sharp had stepped over a Danny Holmes cross.
In-form striker Madden had a good chance on 19 minutes after a mix-up in the TNS defence, but slipped as he was about to shoot, but a full-stretch Sharp just failed to hit the target from a Craig Jones cross with the goal at his mercy.
Jones went even closer with a shot that flew past the far post from Sharp's cross, but dangerman Madden then missed a golden chance at the other end from the edge of the six-yard box after a one-two with Raffaele Cretaro.
After Madden had been denied by keeper Paul Harrison he missed with a good heading opportunity before Brennan's goal.
And the striker missed another opportunity in the final minute when scooping his shot over the bar from 12 yards and nearly added a second with a shot that curled just wide of the far post in stoppage time.
