Ex-TNS coach Cale takes charge of Newtown

FORMER TNS manager Andy Cale has been named as the new boss of Newtown following the midweek departure of Darren Ryan.

Cale played a part in five Welsh Premier title wins, plus Welsh Cup, League Cup and FAW Premier Cup triumphs, during three spells with TNS having previously managed at Rhyl.
He then quit the club on the final day of last season after a 3-1 win at Aberystwyth clinched a fifth TNS title win.
A full-time educational adviser and sports psychologist who holds the Uefa Pro licence, Cale becomes only the fourth person to manage Newtown in the Welsh Premier following the resignation of Ryan and his assistant Rhys Stephens on Tuesday night.
"I am really looking forward to the challenge," says Cale.
"There are a couple of very difficult weeks ahead as I get to know the players but it does appear that Darren Ryan has brought a lot of much needed experience to the club during the close season.
"The club has a fantastic set-up at Latham Park and although everything has only happened over the last 36 hours I am confident that the desire exists at board level to ensure Newtown's future as a Welsh Premier League club."
