Davies confident he has strength in depth

MIKE Davies is backing the Saints to shrug-off the loss of two key players in Saturday's live TV showdown at Llanelli's Stebonheath Park (3.45pm).

Defender Phil Baker faces six to eight weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury sustained in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Bala Town, while striker Chris Sharp is suspended for two games after being red-carded in the same fixture.
But the manager is confident he has enough strength in depth to offset the duo’s loss: "We feel Chris Sharp was hard done by, but he will now be out for two games, while Pip could be out for six weeks with his hamstring,” said Davies.
"It’s disappointing, but we’ve got a cracking squad and I’ve every confidence in the lads who will come in.
"Even at this early stage, it is a massive game tomorrow as you don’t want to be losing points against sides who you know will be around you in the table.
"Llanelli have had a disappointing start by their standards, but that will make them all the more determined to get a good result tomorrow."
Connell Rawlinson will deputise for Baker in the heart of defence while Matty Williams should be fit to take his place up front after requiring stitches to a gashed head against Bala.
Alex Darlington, who scored after coming on as a substitute last week, could also start, while 18-year-old left winger Marcus Giglio, who signed from the Liverpool Academy this week, will be on the bench.
