Charlie is the Saints' cup darling

CHARLIE Proctor's superb late goal fired The New Saints into the final of the Shropshire Senior Cup at the expense of Shrewsbury Town.
Appearing in the competition for the first time, the Saints beat the Shrews 2-1 in front of 496 spectators at Park Hall to set-up a final meeting with AFC Telford United, who beat Market Drayton 4-1 in the other semi-final.
TNS took the lead after 37 minutes when Chris Sharp made a superb run down the left before crossing the far side of the box, where Chris Williams fired home from 12 yards.
But the lead lasted only a minute before Town levelled after pinball in the box from a corner, with Kane Cork getting the final touch.
Saints dominated much of the second period and Sharp almost extended the lead within a minute of the restart.
Aeron Edwards fired just over the bar from an Alex Darlington lay-off before forcing keeper Callum Burton into a save.
Edwards was inches wide with another good effort on 62 minutes with the Shrews restricted to a shot from Ryan Woods, which was comfortably saved by Alex Ramsey.
But the game was headed for a penalty shoot-out until, eight minutes from time, substitute Proctor swivelled and hammered home a deserved winner from 15 yards.
TNS: Alex Ramsey, Ashley Jones, Marcus Giglio, Grant Butler (Sean Ellis 30'), Aeron Edwards, Shaqville Adams, Chris Sharp (Charlie Proctor 60'), Chris Williams (Marcus Ashley 60'), Chris Seargeant, Alex Darlington.
