Busy weekend for Academy

Saturday 13 March
The Junior members of our Academy entertained the excellent Crewe Alexandra Development Centre and as our results suggest we had very tough games.
However as we strive to improve young players and give them the best possible start in football it is important that we have them playing the best possible opposition, and that the players development and not the winning is the key to them doing well in the long term.
The U8’s went ahead early on and worked hard to the end but the game finished 1-6.
The U9’s went 3 nil down, however all players competed and looked to pass the ball and play as a team and finished with an 3-8 loss.
The U10’s met an extremely technically able side and after doing exceptionally well for the first 30 minutes with both teams playing some great football. This game unfortunately went away from the lads in the latter stages and Crewe’s ability to move the ball at speed really showed, and it finished 3-12.
Many thanks and well done to all squad members of our three teams for showing determination and character and endeavouring to try and play to the end.
Thank you also to Ray Walker and his staff and an excellent crop of young players from Crewe.

Sunday 14 March
The U12’s,14’s and 15’s played Airbus
The U12’s played a very strong team that had recently had the better of the two in Chester. However a refreshed and full squad saw a group of players really express themselves and compete extremely well to the delight of their young coach. They completed the game 4-1 winners and are beginning to gel as a group of youngsters.
The U14’s have played this team a couple of times this season, and as the score-line suggests  they have been evenly matched on previous occasions also so  a 1-1 draw seems a fair result for two hardworking groups of players.
TNS u.15s 1 Airbus u.16s 2. Very close game with both teams playing some good passing football. TNS competed very well against a mixed age Airbus team who have been playing together a lot longer that the TNS team. 0-0 at half time. TNS started the 2nd half the brighter of the two teams and TNS went 1-0 up. Airbus drew level and snatched a win late on through a cross that found its way into the back of the neck.
Many thanks to all involved players and coaches alike and to Lee Starkey and his teams and staff from Airbus.
