Ladies lose at Copsewood

IT was a case of deja vu for TNS Ladies as they again gifted the opposition a goal in the very first minute before losing 4-2 to Copsewood.
A good response from TNS resulted in another lapse in defense which found us 2-0 down after only 10 minutes.
Emily Ridge was pushed up on the last defender causing havoc all the game and, when she was felled in the box after 29 minutes, it looked like a well deserved route back into the game.
Unfortunately the penalty was missed and when Ridge was felled again in the box two minutes later, the referee waved penalty claims away despite the linesman flagging.
Again, Ridge's pace took her clear four minutes later only to be chopped down on the edge of the box by the last defender with a free kick the result, but no sending off.
Alicia Robinson’s unstoppable free kick reduced the arrears but TNS were dealt a cruel blow within a minute, when the referee adjudged a very harsh handball in our box to make the score 3-1.
It was all TNS in the second half as they created many chances, Ridge producing two great saves from the Coventry keeper who was outstanding throughout.
A low shot from Ridge deflected into the net via a defender to reduce the arrears but, despite controlling most of the second half and creating many chances, TNS failed to get the equalizer their play deserved.
Abby Francis was pushed up from defence for the final 10 minutes, but we were immediately punished with a break away goal from Copsewood.
A good performance for new manager Nicola Parry, but a disappointing result and next up is a must win game at Stoke City on Sunday.
