Ladies' fightback is just in vain

TNS Ladies went down to a 3-2 defeat at Coventry City despite battling back from a three-goal deficit.

The Midlands Combination League leaders got off to a flying start with a goal inside the first minute, a 25-yarder giving keeper Angela Burkett no chance.
City pressured TNS and added a second on 14 minutes but, despite one-way traffic to the visitors' goal, the girls managed to prevent any further damage before half-time.
Coventry were three goals to the good five minutes after the break but TNS fought back and Sarah Burke latched onto a great through ball from midfield, before using her strength to hold off a defender and finish with a great left foot shot two minutes later.
It was quickly 3-2, when Burke again was given a ball to chase by Kim Bebbington and finished left-footed across the oncoming keeper.
TNS were asking all the questions and it looked as if Burke had scored her third, but was adjudged to be offside.
TNS had Coventry on the ropes, but were unable to score the equalizing goal their second half performance deserved.
