Ladies stun unbeaten champions Coventry

TNS Ladies stunned previously-unbeaten league champions Coventry City by winning 2-1.
City were out-battled and in parts of the game out-played by a very resilient TNS team who took the lead in the very first minute when Emily Ridge was felled in the box and Alicia Robinson calmly despatched the resulting penalty.
TNS looked more likely to score with Ridge and youngster Kate Doster being a constant menace to the visitors but, against the run of play, City were awarded a harsh free-kick.
The lineswoman had adjudged keeper Angie Birkett to be outside of her box when she cleared and the set-piece found the top of our net on 18 minutes.
The second half started with TNS on top and, after coming off the bench on the hour, Chloe Mapp was in the right place at the right time to despatch a Ridge cross two minutes later.
Determined not to lose their unbeaten tag, Coventry tried everything to get back into the game but TNS defended superbly and almost caught the visitors several times on the counter attack.
TNS make the long trip to Rotherham on Sunday.
