PORT Talbot Town have turned to Welsh Premier 'unknown' Wayne Davies to succeed Mark Jones as manager.
Jones departed Victoria Road last week and is now in charge at Carmarthen Town.
Said to be highly respected in south Wales, Davies is a local man who guided Welsh Leaguers Neath to a league and cup double before becoming part of Brian Flynn’s backroom staff at Swansea City last season.
He is to be assisted by current Talbot coach Paul Evans and the pair have already started planning for the new season.
Chairman Andrew Edwards confirmed the appointment this afternoon and has no doubts that his new capture can take the club forward.
"I am delighted to have someone of Wayne’s calibre on board here at Port Talbot Town", he said.
"Wayne is an experienced and highly respected coach who has big plans for this club and we are looking forward to the new season with optimism following his appointment".
The club's website, www.porttalbotafc.co.uk, says a number of new signings are expected over the next few weeks as the new management team plans for the next campaign.
