WELSH Premier clubs have decided to play a series of Academy-coached games organised on a regional basis next season.
TNS have been grouped with fellow central Wales teams Aberystwyth, Caersws, Newtown and Welshpool and Under-13, 15 and 16 sides will meet each other on a home and away basis.
Saints will also look to arrange games against other Welsh Premier teams from the north Wales area and play in a Welsh Premier Cup for the three age groups.
The proposals were agreed at a Welsh Premier Academy conference organised by the FAW Trust and attended by TNS general manager Ian Williams, along with Academy Directors Peter Griffiths and Martin Pope joined by newly-appointed TNS Football in the Community Manager Mike Davies and academy coaches Ray Jones, Ian Rowe, Mark Evans and Phil Turnbull.
Designed for academy coaches and administrators, the day gave the FAW Trust the opportunity to outline changes to the academy guidelines for next season as well as giving coaches the chance to share knowledge and practice during technical coaching sessions.
"The day was extremely successful" says Ian Williams. "It gave all clubs throughout the Welsh Premier the opportunity to share good practice and agree a way forward for Academy structures nationally - both within Welsh Premier clubs and local authorities throughout Wales".
