UEFA SCUPPERS EXILES' EURO HOPES |
 |
 |
THE exiled clubs will have to challenge Uefa if they want to compete in European
competition in 2005/6.
Uefa have reaffirmed their decision that Welsh teams playing in the English leagues
cannot represent Wales in European competition.
The FAW's international committee has voted to allow the exiles back into the
Welsh Cup after absence of almost 10 years.
If the proposal is agreed by the full FAW Council, the exiles hope it will lead
to a place in Europe if they win the trophy - and the FAW has indicated it would
nominate the winners regardless of which system they play in.
But a Uefa spokesman told the South Wales Echo: "It's quite simple. They
cannot play in Europe through this competition because they play in the English
league." |
