NEWI Cefn Druids and TNS are in competition for the signature of midfielder James Maguire.
The ex-Tranmere youth was one of three former Prenton Park players training at Plas Kynaston, but turned out and scored for the Saints in their pre-season friendly at Limavady United on Saturday.
"One of those players has been training with TNS and one of them is just coming back from injury, but the third lad was with us at training and looking in good form," said Druids' boss Alun Morgan.
The Plas Kynaston manager refused to name any of the former Rovers stars.
"I can't say who they are yet, but we know one of them has been training with TNS and there is no way we can compete with them.
"The other lad is a left back/midfield player and would do really well with us at that position."
