Former Manchester
United goalkeeping trainee Paul Gibson is in Saints' Uefa Cup squad. |
MANAGER Ken McKenna has moved to provide goalkeeping cover
for Gerard Doherty ahead of the Uefa Cup ties with Swedish outfit Osters.
He has added stoppers Paul Gibson and James Coates to his squad list submitted
to Geneva today.
Gibson, 27, has played for Notts County, Mansfield Town, Rochdale, Hull City,
Droylsden, Northwich Victoria and Witton Albion.
He has also played in front of 67,000 spectators when he appeared for the second
half of the Manchester United Munich testimonial.
Coates, 19, has played for Mansfield Town and was capped by Wales at Under-17,
Under-19 and Under-21 levels.
Also named in the list of 25 players is Colin Alcide, a highly experienced utility
man who can operate in central defence, up front, or on the left side of midfield
and may well make his debut in tonight's friendly against Linfield at Windsor
Park.
Alcide has experience with Cambridge United, York City, Hull City and Lincoln.

United's youth set-up last season and is due to join the TNS scholarship scheme
alongside Steven Lalley, who is already one year into the programme.

Lalley, Alcide, Connelly, Brabin, Davies, King, Leah, Ward, Ruscoe, McGuire, Hogan,
