SWEDISH SAINTS PROVIDE AWAY SUPPORT
A SAINTS' shirt spotted in the crowd at Vxj was worn by Tomas Hagfeldt, a Swedish fan who has been to Llansantffraid twice to see TNS in action!
On the first occasion in January 1999, Tomas came over to Wales with his friend Gary to watch the Welsh Premier game against Haverfordwest.
Travelling from Belfast they missed the boat from Dublin, took a cab to the airport, bought two tickets to Birmingham, travelled by train to Oswestry, took a cab to Treflan and arrived at half time.
Saints were already 3-2 up, with Ken McKenna scoring to add to a brace of penalties from Ricky Evans, after strikes from Richard Gay and Andy Jones for the Bluebirds. However, Tomas did get to see McKenna stick away Saints' fourth goal near the finish in a 4-2 win.
The Swedish duo returned in 2001 to see TNS play Inter Cardiff.
Tomas was attracted to the Saints because their green and white colours are similar to those of Hammarby.
He was joined at the Varendsvallen Stadium by his brother Anders, who has also been converted to the TNS cause!
The brothers can't get to Wrexham for the second leg, but are planning another visit to Llansantffraid in the future.
