John Leah tries to beat Shrewsbury's Jamie Tolley during last season's friendly at Treflan.
AS Saints prepare to meet Shropshire's 'big two' in their final pre-season friendlies this week, there is a possibility that Saturday's kick-off against AFC Telford United may be brought forward to 12 noon and the club will confirm details later.
It is just over a year since the Shrews last visited Treflan and proved too strong for Saints, with a brace of goals from Ryan Lowe and one from Karl Murray.
There have been a few changes in the Gay Meadow outfit's personnel since they won promotion back to League Two.
Missing from yesterday's official photocall were Martin O’Connor, Jody Banim, Ian Fitzpatrick and Leon Drysdale.
O'Connor has today agreed a 12 month player/coach deal with manager Jimmy Quinn and looks set to play against TNS.
However, Banim is on the transfer list and the others have been told to find new clubs.
New faces who may be on display tonight (kick-off 7.30) are midfielder Ben Smith, signed from Hereford and striker John Grant, who played for Quinn at Northwich.
TNS boss Ken McKenna will be looking to get wing-backs Chris King and Martin Naylor back into action as soon as possible, along with central defender Steve Evans, who has yet to play pre-season with a jaw injury.
McKenna is also likely to give a trial tonight to defender Matt Rees, who started his career at Millwall before loan spells with Aldershot, Dagenham & Redbridge and Swansea City.
The next week will see a shake out from the non-contract and triallist players as the management firms up its squad for the new Welsh Premier season, with Colin Alcide, Marc Connolly, Nathan James and Jamie McGuire under scrutiny, together with goalkeepers Paul Gibson and James Coates.
SHREWSBURY TOWN (Expected line-up): Hart, Drysdale, Moss, Whitehead, Murray, Lowe, O’Connor, Street, Aiston, Cramb, Ommel. Subs: Grant, Banim, Fitz, Stephens.
