Gary Lloyd and Jamie Moralee
TWO of cash-strapped Barry Town's key players are quitting the club after refusing to accept reduced terms for next season.
Gary Lloyd's love affair with Barry Town has come to an end, after nearly nine years at Jenner Park.
Lloyd's contract has finished and he will open talks with Dr Martens Premier Division Newport County, after turning down new, reduced terms.
"It will hurt me to leave," said Lloyd, "My family and I have made many friends over the years, but the club have cut my wages and I cannot accept the new terms.
"I have had some fantastic times at Barry, and wish the manager, players and supporters the very best for the future, and thank them for their support."
Skipper Jon French is also on his way out. The former Bristol Rovers and Hull City player is also a victim of the financial problems at Barry.
And further bad news looks to be on the horizon for the Dragons as striker Jamie Moralee, who has a year left of his contract to run, could also be on his way.
Moralee, who has attracted Nationwide Conference outfit Forest Green, where Colin Addison is manager, could be the next high-profile player to leave the club.
"The boss has been fantastic to me and the rest of the players. The best scenario for me is that we all stick together for another crack at European football.
"The gaffer had a lot to contend with over the last few weeks and he has kept us focused throughout.
"But I also know that things change, that's football, and I will have to think things over if they materialise."
