John Lawless in action for TNS against AFC Telford last Saturday.
JOHN Lawless has signed a 12-month deal to play for TNS, following his departure from Aberystwyth Town last week.
The Park Avenue management agreed to release him from a two-year contract, after the resignation of manager Gary Finley.
A pacy, left-sided forward, Lawless joined the Black & Greens from Unibond League Burscough where he gained an FA Trophy winners medal after creating both goals in their surprise 2-1 victory over Tamworth at Villa Park in 2003.
Lawless scored eight goals from 29 appearances in his one and only season with the Seasiders.
Saints' boss Ken McKenna is still waiting to talk to Aberystwyth striker Lee Spike after lodging seven days' notice of approach for the player.
The departure of Finley from Aberystwyth has led to a mass exit of their Merseyside based players. Finley himself is currently on non-contract terms with Saints, while goalkeeper John Worsnop, midfielder Andy Lee and defender Phil Baker seem set to join Droylsden.
Former TNS striker Anthony Wright earlier departed for Vauxhall Motors.
The addition of Lawless to the TNS squad will give McKenna more options down the left hand side, where Chris King has operated so effectively from a wing-back role.
Meanwhile, the club has confirmed that Gary Brabin will not play again, but have agreed for him to continue in a fitness coaching role until Christmas.
