TNS Ladies launched their West Midlands League campaign on a winning note with a 3-2 away success at Solihull Glades.
Verity Farrell (4) and Jemma Lloyd (10) gave TNS the perfect start as they threatened a repeat of last week's goal feast in the FA Women's Cup.
But Lisa Carson pulled a goal back against the run of play on 15 minutes and Gemma McSweeney equalised with 15 minutes remaining, before a fine solo effort by Stacy Davies in the 89th minutes gave TNS the points.
The FA Cup success at home to Birstall came courtesy of goals from Jemma Lloyd, Alex Waldron, Sally Jones (2), Verity Farrell (2) and Sarah Parton with Kirsty Chadwick grabbing a late consolation for the visitors.
The win sets up a second round tie away to Lichfield-based Whittington Ladies, but the girls are first at home to Stoke City this Sunday (19 September) at Park Hall, kick-off 2.00pm.
