North West Counties Leaguers Prescot Cables scored twice in the first half and were able to hang on to snatch the honours.
Five minutes into the second half, McIlVogue connected with Adam Kelly's cross to thunder a header past the Prescot 'keeper. He later had a chance to level matters but shot straight at the goalkeeper. Town lost 2-1.
A jaded looking Bangor City fell 2-1 at Llangefni, although several of their Uefa Cup squad were missing from the action.

Newly-promoted Port took the lead from a disputed David Evans penalty after just 42 seconds with Carl Owen adding a second soon after. The game ended 2-2.
An inspired performance by Port Talbot keeper Simon Raynor enabled them to escape from Redditch United with just a 1-0 defeat. After being outplayed in the first half, Talbot came more into the game after the break, but could not claim an equaliser they hardly deserved.
Aberystwyth took Ton Pentre apart at Park Avenue. With several players unavailable, Gary Finley took an extended look at his new signings and trialists. Aber scored through Lee Spike (2), Jon Lawless and O’Sullivan in a 4-0 win.
Carmarthen Town looked impressive in their 2-1 victory at Bath City, with new goalkeeper Tony Pennock particularly in form.
David Moss put the West Walians ahead after only two minutes and Steffan Davies bagged the winner midway through the second-half.
Haverfordwest continued their encouraging pre-season run when they slammed Sporting Hackney 6-0 at New Bridge Meadow.
Gavin Griffiths netted a brace while Chris Miller from the penalty spot, Darren Ryan and father and son, Michael and Matthew Ellis, were also on target.
Afan Lido were made to work hard for their 1-0 win at Bridgend Town, Sacha Walters scoring the only goal of the game.
Newtown picked up a creditable 3-1 win over a young Chester City side with former Telford striker Peter Smith bagging a brace and ex-Shrewsbury youngster Richard Harris also on the mark.
New signing Steve Rogers put Welshpool on course for a 6-2 friendly win at Aberystwyth Town reserves with his side's first two goals, the second a penalty.
Newi Cefn Druids were edged out 1-0 against Grantham at Plas Kynaston, Kevin Wilkins on target in the second half.
