High fives
for Marc Lloyd-Williams from Steven Beck after the striker's fourth goal
against Nomads. |
TNS 5-0 Connah’s Quay Nomads
Welsh Cup Second Round
Sat 2 Oct 2004: Home - Treflan
MARC Lloyd-Williams virtually ended the contest with two goals in the first nine
minutes and completed his third hat-trick of the season before half-time.
TNS then cruised to a 5-0 win against opponents who knocked them out of the league
cup last month.
Tommy Holmes sparked the third minute opener with a lofted pass which broke from
Mike Wilde to Lloyd-Williams to bury his shot into the corner.
Nomads were left to rue a missed header in front of goal by Darren Williams, as
TNS broke and John Toner fed a suspiciously off-side Lloyd-Williams for number
two.
The striker could easily have been awarded a penalty when brought down by Chris Williams,
but completed his threesome from the spot just before half-time, after Scott Ruscoe
was felled by George Horan.
Nomads flattered to deceive but were unable to add to a finish to some good build-up
play and Saints added to their total when John Lawless volleyed first-time past
Bryan from Steven Beck’s pinpoint cross.
Inevitably, Lloyd-Williams had the last word as he went on a solo run from midfield after latched on to a loose ball and easily beat the keeper to bring his seasonal tally to 14 goals in league and cup. |
