Welsh Premier
WELSH football has struck two new sponsorship deals for its leading leagues.
The flagship division will continue to be known as the JT Hughes Mitsubishi Welsh Premier this season after its sponsorship was renewed in a deal worth £250,000.
The parties came to an initial agreement in October 2002 which resulted in not only financial backing for the clubs, but also the opportunity to lease Mitsubishi vehicles at very advantageous rates, from which many clubs have benefited as a result.
Both parties were delighted with the first season of the sponsorship, which has resulted in a year’s extension to the contract with the possibility to extend further.
During the coming season the monetary value of the agreement has been enhanced, while the range of vehicles available to clubs has been extended to give them much greater choice.
It is also the intention of Mitsubishi Motors UK to be more pro-active in their own promotion of the League, increasing awareness through their network of dealerships in Wales and assisting in marketing activities using the significant expertise they have in this field.
There was also good news for the Welsh League, the feeder competition to the Welsh Premier, which will announce a deal with an insurance company on Friday.
John Deakin, Welsh Premier secretary was delighted with the deal struck with JT Hughes and Mitsubishi.
"It's a better deal than we had last year and it gives the league continuity," Deakin said.
"We are in negotiations to extend the sponsorship to five years, and Mitsubishi are going to use their marketing department to promote the league further."
