SAINTS WANT TO CLIP ROBINS' WINGS

Tue 16 Nov 2004: Home - Treflan

NEWTOWN come to Treflan on a roll - their 3-2 win at home to Port Talbot on Saturday was their seventh consecutive victory and the run brought boss Roger Preece the manager of the month accolade for October.
The Robins made a dreadful start to the campaign with a 1-0 home defeat to promoted Airbus - still the Wingmakers' only success of the season.
But a 3-2 away win at Farrar Road gave the Latham Park outfit some confidence and, since then, there has been no stopping them in the league as they move up to fourth place.
Saints will want to secure maximum points to maintain their own superb run of form and stay ahead of the pack, with another game at NEWI Cefn Druids coming up on Friday.
Striker John Toner is likely to miss out after being injured in a crunching tackle from Nomads' Geroge Horan during the 7-0 win up on Deeside, so manager Ken McKenna will be looking to injured potential replacements Jamie Wood and Nicky Ward to make the frame for selection.
The Robins will be without defender Adrian Moody, who was red-carded against the Steelmen and Saints will need to stop former Treflan striker Danny Barton from adding to his nine goal tally so far this season.

Ellacott gets the call
GOALKEEPER Marty Ellacott has been drafted in by Newtown for tonight's Welsh Premier derby at Treflan.
With first choice Paul Edwards unavailable, Robins boss Roger Preece has moved to bring in the 34-year-old, who is currently with Welsh Leaguers Barry Town.
A wealth of top flight experience with Ton Pentre, Inter Cardiff and Cwmbran means that Ellacott gets the nod over youngster David Littleford.
"With us playing TNS, I felt we needed someone more experienced at this level for such a big game," said Preece.
"To be without Eddie was a big headache but we're delighted Marty has agreed to sign for us on second forms. He has bags of experience."
