Ken McKenna
SAINTS' boss Ken McKenna was relaxed after Friday night's 3-1 defeat at home to an Everton XI containing three Premiership players.
"We matched them in the first half, kept our shape and passed the ball well," he said.
"We made four changes at half time and that disrupted our game. We lost discipline, started diving into tackles and gave away soft goals.
"We'll be better for this experience."
McKenna confirmed that inspirational central defender Steve Evans, who came on as a substitute in the second half, will not be fit to make the starting line-up against Manchester City.
Replacement Jimmy Aggrey has impressed in pre-season, but will be fully tested by Fowler and Anelka.
An equally pressing problem is the continued lack of a confirmed goal scorer up front.
Whatever the result on Thursday, McKenna wants the players to enjoy the experience on an historic night.
