TNS duly recorded their first league win for a month, but it was far from
a cakewalk against lowly Llanelli.
Despite creating a host of chances, the leaders were never able to establish
a comfort zone and, to their credit, the visitors were always looking to go
Chris Taylor headed Saints in front on the quarter hour from a John Lawless
corner, but Llanelli were level somewhat fortuitiously 10 minutes later. Gavin Guy sliced his shot from Steve Crabbe's free-kick only for a deflection from a defender to find Martin Rose who stabbed past Doherty.
Scott Ruscoe restored the TNS lead with the majority of spectators still enjoying
their half-time tea, a 35-yard thunderbolt giving Gareth Williams no
chance, but the keeper was alert to the threat from Jamie Wood and Lawless with excellent
saves at their feet.
Chris King’s left wing cross allowed TNS to open a two goal lead
with a far post header from Marc Lloyd-Williams.
But Craig Williams pulled a goal back after Rose robbed Taylor in the box and Cheesman headed another chance wide 60 seconds later.
Wood hit a post for TNS but Llanelli could have levelled when Dyfan Pierce sent
his 20-yarder just wide, before Mike Wilde scored with the last kick of the
"I thought we were a bit tentative today," said manager Ken McKenna.
"We made a couple of mistakes but we scored four goals and won at home, so I'm happy to take the three points."
