Buckley boss Dave Taylor and his players celebrate their Cymru Alliance championship
BUCKLEY Town survived a nervous second half to clinch the Cymru Alliance title with a 2-1 win at Bala Town.
The north Wales side led by two goals at the break, courtesy of a header from Mike Lewis and a Kevin Breeze penalty awarded for handball.
But Bala hit back with a Neil Davies goal seven minutes after the break and both sides had chances before skipper and goalkeeper Farai Jackson lifted the trophy.
With Buckley unlikely to meet the Welsh Premier's deadline for final ground inspection, events elsewhere have thrown a lifeline to 17th-placed NEWI Cefn Druids.
In their final game of the season, promotion hopefuls Llangefni Town were held to a 2-2 draw at Ruthin leaving Glantraeth, who won 7-0 at home to Mold Alex, just one point adrift of second place with two games left.
With a superior goal difference, Glan need just one point to thwart their Anglesey rivals' promotion bid and save the Druids' necks.
However, a 3-0 win for Grange Quins against Bridgend in Welsh League Division One puts them in the box seat for a top-two finish and promotion, meaning Afan Lido will almost certainly be relegated.
