Verity Farrell gives TNS Ladies a sixth minute lead
TNS Ladies 2-2 WBA
West Midlands Regional League
Sun 1 May 2005: Home - Treflan
TNS Ladies provided the curtain raiser for Saints' Welsh Premier victory party at Treflan, but they were unable to make it a double celebration when West Brom equalised minutes from time.
A win would have given the girls the West Midlands Regional League championship, but they still need two more points from their remaining two games to take the title from their main rivals WBA.
Verity Farrell gave TNS the perfect start, netting at the second attempt in the sixth-minute from Kate Challoner's left wing cross after visiting keeper Lydia Broom could only parry.
Stacy Davies hit the bar with a header from Farrell's corner and the WBA keeper denied Sarah Parton and a further attack ended with a shot hitting the post.
But despite the TNS pressure, Albion equalised on the half-hour when Katie Harris fed Hayley Phillipowsky on she fired past TNS keeper Bev highfield.
The lead lasted just two minutes before Farrell was brought down by Hayley Fisher and picked herself up to fire home from the spot kick.
The Midlands side had the better of the second spell, despite having coach Matt Price red-carded from the dugout.
But just as it seemed TNS would hold out to clinch the title, the Albion pressure finally succeeded in the 89th minute when, from a home free kick that was charged down, the visitors broke and a long ball found Phillopowski who added her second.
There was still time for Highfield to pull off a great save from Becky Holland's 25-yarder in stoppage time.
