KEY to Saints' 4-0 win over Porthmadog was the return to form and fitness of John Toner.
More important, he has rediscovered the scoring touch which deserved him for so much of last season.
The Welsh Premier goal machine - 58 from 108 appearances - could manage only seven League goals last term in a season when TNS as a whole suffered a goal drought.
Toner took his two goals yesterday with a sure touch and should have had a hat-trick, only McGuigan's diving save at his feet preventing the third.
The rest of Toner's game was on song, too, as he chased and harried around the front line.
His link-up play with Simon Davies almost produced goals for team-mates, too.
He was deservedly voted the Sainsbury's man of the match - the only surprise was that he was withdrawn after 61 minutes, although by then the mission had been accomplished.
