SAINTS BACK TO BASICS |
 |
SAINTS will put their European adventures against Liverpool behind them on Sunday
as they start preparations to defend their domestic trophies.
The players relocate to a new training camp in the idyllic surroundings of Shropshire's
Ellesmere College, which offers state-of-the-art facilities.
The move ends a long search for a permanent base close to Oswestry and, with the
assistance of the College authorities and staff, TNS have installed changing rooms
and showers in the grounds of the famous school.
Over the past few season, the Saints have trained in Runcorn, Four Crosses and,
most recently, at Vauxhall Motors in Ellesmere Port.
The move will allow for greater integration of training between the first-team
squad and the Scholarship Youth set-up, which is based nearby at Walford &
North Shropshire College.
Next target for manager Ken McKenna is a brace of pre-season friendlies against Coca Cola
League opposition from Chester City (on Tuesday night) and local rivals Shrewsbury
Town.
Competitive action begins with a Challenge Cup trip to nearby Welshpool on Saturday
20 August and the opening Welsh Premier League game of the new campaign at Porthmadog's
Traeth the following weekend. |
