|TNS RESERVES 1-2 FORDEN UNITED
JT Hughes Montgomeryshire Amateur Football League
Saturday 27 September, Home - Park Hall, Oswestry
TNS Reserves had keeper Gerard Doherty sent off as they crashed at home to Forden United.
Saints started well and played some neat football creating several chances, two of which were cleared off the line.
But against the run of play, Forden scored from a free kick.
It took Saints just five minutes to equalise. A fine move involving Tom Roberts and Jamie Evans down the right saw Sam Pickup neatly shooting low into the bottom corner.
The second half was evenly balanced until disaster struck for home goalkeeper Gerard Doherty.
A regulation back pass took a wicked bounce as Doherty attempted to clear and the resulting air shot saw the ball roll agonisingly into the net.
Ten minutes later, Doherty was red carded as he collided with a Forden forward who was chasing a long through ball.
The referee deemed that he had stopped a goal scoring attempt, even though the forward had steered his shot 15 yards wide just before the collision took place.
Even with 10 men, TNS pressed forward in search of an equaliser, but it was not to be.
The only good news for Saints was a successful return to action for Tommy Holmes, who played a midfield role, and his tremendous attitude was an inspiration to his young team mates.
