Jiws is on
his backside but the ball is in the net for the TNS equaliser |
Total Network Solutions 1-1 Shrewsbury Town
Pre-season friendly
Mon 1 August 2005: Home - Treflan
TNS more than held their own against League Two opponents and could easily have
won with a bit more sharpness in front of goal.
The Saints shaded the first-half possession and chances but had nothing to show
for their efforts, with former Tranmere and Rushden front man Alex Hay firing
wide and keeper Glyn Thompson saving from the feet of Michael Wilde.
Shrewsbury's best efforts came from Ceiran Lyng twice and David Edwards who sent
his header just wide.
The half-time arrival of Steven Evans proved something of a disaster as he immediately
conceded a set piece on the byline and then turned Jamie Tolley's low free-kick into his own
net.
TNS stepped up the tempo to pressure the Shrews' goal and got
their just reward on 73 minutes when John Lawless beat his man down the left to
cross for sub Marc Lloyd Williams to head past Thompson.
In a frantic finale, Barry Hogan and Lloyd Williams saw shots saved and Scott
Ruscoe curled a good effort just round the post from out wide, but it was a satisfactory
performance from all concerned in which it was the visitors who were hanging on
at the end. |
