TNS IN BATTLE TO GET CARTER |
 |
 |
Alfie Carter
impressed in Tuesday's friendly at the New Bucks Head |
AFC Telford United have moved to secure prized asset Alfie Carter by offering
the frontman a contract, in a bid to persuade him to turn down an approach from
Saints.
TNS put in seven days notice to sign the 25-year-old on Friday after he impressed
against them in a friendly earlier last week.
Bucks boss Bernard McNally has waived the seven days notice, allowing TNS boss
Ken McKenna to speak to the player now, because he does not want the situation
dragging on throughout the week.
McNally has made no secret of his continuing desire to hold on to the former Walsall
and Stafford Rangers man and wants a decision sooner rather than later so that
the build-up to the Bucks' first game of the season at Ossett on Saturday is not
affected.
"If TNS offer him a small fortune then I wouldn't blame him for taking it
because in this game it's a short career and it is about money," he said.
"But I'm still optimistic and there's still a glimmer at the end of the tunnel." |
