Derek Mills Cup: Away
TNS gained all the points with a 3-1 away win in the Derek Mills Cup, which is played in a league format.
Saints started brightly and created many chances in the first 20 minutes of the match.
Jamie Evans hit the bar with a 20-yarder and several other efforts just missed the target.
But, against the run of play, Montgomery took a shock lead when Sam Grigg was first to react as the ball rebounded off the cross-bar.
Just when it seemed a goal was not going to come, Evans equalised with a 20-yard volley to be followed by his second, when he finished neatly when put through by Chris Aitken.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with TNS playing some good football and the third goal eventually came when Sam Pickup followed up to slot home after his initial shot was blocked.
This rounded off a good win which included some strong individual performances, notably Andy Ford at left back and Chris Aitken in midfield. The side was helped by the contribution from first teamerís Tommy Holmes and Justin Perry, who showed a fine example to their young team mates.
