Alfie Carter
Alfie Carter - an exciting addition to the Saints' squad []
TNS manager Ken McKenna admits he hasn't seen as much of new acquisition Alfie Carter as he would have liked.
But he is delighted to have finally captured the signature of the 25-year old striker from AFC Telford United.
And he hopes that Saints' new squad number 23 will prove as big a hit at Treflan as another famous 23 at Real Madrid!
The pacy frontman was an instant hit with Bucks' fans after he joined from Halesowen Town last year, although he sometimes failed to deliver his pre-season promise in league action.
McKenna is sure that a return to full-time training will allow his man to add an exciting dimension to the Saints' attacking options.
Alfonso Damian Carter, to give him his full name, played league football for Walsall but was released five years ago, much to the dismay of many Saddlers' fans who felt he was a player for the future.
His career then took him to Bromsgrove Rovers, Halesowen Town, Newport County, Evesham United, Stafford Rangers and Bath City, before a return to the Yeltz.
Alfie has taken his time in mulling over a move from a part-time role with the well-supported Bucks to full-time football in the Welsh Premier, but to his credit has decided to put his ambitions before cash.
With a current part-time job in addition to his football, Carter will be no better off financially with the Saints, but believes the move - and the prospect of European football - will help in rejuvenating his desire to pursue a professional football career.
"I've turned 25 and this is a big year for me," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. "This move gives me the opportunity of reaching my potential - I will be fitter, training more and learning more.
"I see it as a career move. Telford fans have never seen my true ability, except in flashes here and there.
"I hope TNS can see the real Alfie Carter and that I can achieve success and improve my goals to game ratio."
A crowd-pleaser with the capability to play upfront in a central or wide role, he is sure to make an impact on TNS fans and Welsh domestic football in general.
