Tue 30 August 2005: Away - Victoria Road

FOR the second time in four days, TNS were denied by a super goalkeeping performance as they were forced to settle for a point at Victoria Road.
Veteran Marty Ellacott produced a remarkable save to keep out a Steve Evans header and then a brilliant stop from a Marc Lloyd Williams stinger.
Without his heroics, the Steelmen would have gone in for the half-time tea a beaten side, after Michael Wilde had given his side a 12th minute lead from a pinpoint Chris King cross.
For half an hour TNS played Talbot off the park, but they were rocked by an equaliser on the stroke of half-time in the home side's only serious attack.
Gerard Doherty appeared to have a Rhys Griffiths shot well-covered, but it took a wicked bounce off the pitch and the hapless keeper fumbled it over the line.
Talbot grew in confidence in the second-half and Griffiths could well have given them the lead, but could only direct a point-blank header in front of goal straight at Doherty.
The Saints' cause became even harder after 65 minutes when Barry Hogan was sent off for a second yellow card, but the 10-men managed a late rally in which Wilde was unlucky to see his far post header tipped away by the determined Ellacott.
Manager Ken McKenna reacted angrily to the second-half display by foregoing the usual warm-down and taking the players to the changing room. He also cancelled Wednesday's scheduled day-off and called the players in for training.
"We were absolutely superb for the first half-hour," he said, " but we failed to take our chances once again and have dropped two valuable points."
