SECOND year scholar Mark Davies is the first TNS youngster to be awarded a scholarship sponsorship.
The 17-year old former Rochdale trainee from Guilsfield, Powys has impressed the club's management team with several substitute appearances in pre-season and made an encouraging full first team debut in last Sunday's Welsh Premier League victory against Bangor City at Treflan.
A highly talented left sided player, Mark was outstanding for the club's reserve and youth teams last season.
He has recently attended trials for the English Colleges Under-18 squad and, despite carrying an injury, was asked to return as one of the final 32 by coach Sammy Lee.
The TNS Scholarship programme is due to start its third season in conjunction with Walford and North Shropshire College. The programme combines education and football coaching for 16 to 19 year old playersand the club is likely to have up to 40 scholars on its books at the start of the academic year next week.
Talented players from the squad will compete in the club's Welsh Premier Under 21 side as well as playing for the Montomeryshire Amateur league side, Mid-Wales Youth League team and college teams competing in the English Colleges and West Midlands Leagues.
