LADIES BACK ON WINNING TRAIL |
 |
Shrewsbury Town 1-4 TNS Ladies
Midlands Combination League
Sun 25 Sept 2005: Away
TNS Ladies bounced back well from their shock defeat by Coventry City
the
previous
Sunday by beating local rivals Shrewsbury.
TNS took the lead in the 15th minute
when Jemma Lloyd ran down the left from the halfway line before crossing for
Sally Jones to fire home from just inside
the box.
It was 2-0 in the 35th minute when Sarah Parton's defence splitting
pass found Lloyd who rounded Shrews' keeper Becky Fryer before shooting home.
Kate
Challinor added to the lead after 69 minutes, latching onto a through ball before
rounding
Fryer
to
score.
Shrewsbury
pulled a goal back on 74 when Penny Brown's right
wing corner was headed out by Challinor to Zoe Carter-Rix who shot home through
a crowded goalmouth past unsighted TNS keeper Bev Highfield from just inside
the box.
However, the result was never in doubt and the fourth goal came on
in the 85th minute when Challinor rifled home her second from the edge of the
box following a good build up.
TNS Ladies are due to be at home to Rotherham
United Ladies in the league this Sunday at the Walford College ground, kick off
2.00pm.
The girls have been drawn at home to AFC Telford United Ladies in the
1st Round Proper of the FA Womens Cup. The game is due to be played on Sunday
23rd
October with a 2.00pm kick off. [David Figg] |
