AIRBUS BOOK TNS SEMI MEETING |
 |
AIRBUS booked a Loosemores Challenge Cup semi-final date with TNS by beating
Rhyl 3-2 at The Airfield on Wednesday night.
It was the second time this season the Wingmakers have shocked the Lillies,
who have reached the semi-final of this competition for the last three years.
Goals in the first period of extra time from Craig Jones and James McIntyre put
Airbus through after Rhyl had taken the lead through an Andy Moran penalty.
But the home side bounced back within 10 minutes and Leech was brought down by
Rhyl
keeper Gerard McGuigan for James McIntosh to also convert from the spot.
The home side finally found the net from open play 11 minutes into extra-time
when Richard Smart's cross was missed by McGuigan and Jones pounced to score.
A superb through ball from Smart found McIntosh moments later and he poked the
ball home to put Airbus in the box seat.
Moran gave the home fans some anxious moments when he converted his second spot
kick, but Airbus held on.
Llanelli meet Port Talbot in the other semi-final, dates and venues yet
to
be
announced. |
