LADIES TRIUMPH IN NINE-GOAL THRILLER |
 |
Chesterfield Ladies 4-5 TNS Ladies
Midlands Women's Combination League
Sun 16 Oct 2005: Away - Glapwell FC
TNS Ladies continued their good early season form with a heart-stopping win in
a nine-goal thriller in Derbyshire.
TNS took the lead inside the first minute
when, in their first attack, Jemma Lloyd crossed from the left and Sarah Parton
shot
home from close range. Chesterfield equalised in the 17th minute when Robyn Henton
crossed from the left and Natalie Poole's attempted clearance went into the net
for an own goal.
Lloyd fired TNS back in front on 32 minutes with a shot from the edge
of the box before Henton levelled for Chesterfield on 40.
But
TNS added two more goals in a two minute spell before the break. Lloyd dribbled
past three defenders into the area
before firing home at the near post and Kate Challinor made it 4-2 to the visitors
with a cross-cum shot over keeper Jess Smart's head.
Laura Windle pulled one back
for the hosts on 65 before TNS restored their two goal lead at 5-3 on 80 when
Lloyd crossed from the left for Trish Jones
to clip her shot over Smart's head from the edge of the box.
But the home side set-up a nervous final period Amanda Reve scored from a dubiously
awarded penalty six minutes from time after a "challenge" by Danni
Petrovic, but TNS held out to take all three points. • TNS Ladies are
in FA Women's Cup 1st Round Proper action this Sunday (23rd October) when they
are at home to former West Midlands League Premier Division rivals AFC Telford
United Ladies. The game at the Walford College ground
kicks off at 2.00pm.
