WELSHPOOL Town's hopes of retaining their place in the Welsh Premier have been dashed.
The Football Association of Wales has upheld its decision to use the 'golden share' to vote the Lilywhites out of the league, despite the Welsh Premier clubs voting 15-2 in favour of them staying up.
Welshpool had hoped to remain in the competition, because Neath's bid for promotion was rejected, as their ground did not meet the league criteria.
The Welsh Premier will operate with 16 teams next term, assuming the TNS/Oswestry merger is approved by the Shropshire club's shareholders on 29 June.
