MANAGER Ken McKenna has warned his league leaders of the potential festive pitfalls as they head for local rivals Welshpool Town on Boxing Day.
Saints slumped to a 5-2 defeat in the corresponding game last year on New Year's Day, their heaviest defeat for some time.
Welshpool are enjoying their best-ever campaign in the Welsh Premier and lie in third spot going in to their double header with TNS.
"It’s a difficult time, it’s easy to get distracted but we’ve got to be careful we don’t take our eyes off the ball," says McKenna.
"Last year we were well beaten at Welshpool, they were more up for it. But hopefully we’ve learnt the lesson and we can get even.
"We’ve worked hard to get in a good position and we don’t want to get sloppy now."
"Welshpool are a good little side, they are up there on merit and the likes of Steve Rogers and Calvin Davies are both in the scoring charts. It’s going to be a test for us, but one we’re looking forward to," he added.
