DUE to face TNS Youth in the third round, Rhayader Town face expulsion from the FAW Youth Cup.
A Football Association of Wales spokesperson revealed that the Weirglodd club were under investigation for fielding an ineligible player.
"We can confirm Rhayader Town are under investigation for a suspected ineligible player.
"The player in question represented Rhayader Town in the Welsh Youth Cup against Borras Park Albion on Saturday October 29.
"We have asked Rhayader Town for their observations and a decision will be made an an FAW hearing on January 19."
Regional FAW member Phil Woosnam said the case had once again highlighted problems within the Welsh pyramid system.
"To be fair to Rhayader Town it seems they have been caught out on a technicality and I hope it does not ultimately cost these young lads the chance of playing in the next round of the Welsh Youth Cup," he said.
"My own opinion is that the two club ruling should be reviewed by the FAW as currently it could be stopping some young lads playing football."
