TNS v Welshpool Town
Vauxhall Masterfit Welsh Premier League
Monday 2 January 2006: Home - Treflan, 2.30pm
THE second local derby of the festive season sees TNS bidding to complete the double - and a clean sweep - over rivals Welshpool Town.
Saints recorded a 2-1 success at Maesydre on Boxing Day and have also knocked Tomi Morgan's men out of the Challenge Cup and the Welsh Cup this season.
But despite their domination of the Lilywhites, manager Ken McKenna is taking nothing for granted. "Tomi has them playing well and with a lot of spirit so we will not be underestimating them," he says. "Welshpool play with a lot of spirit and even more character, so we do not expect an easy game on Monday."
McKenna also reiterated the need for his men to stay focused in their bid to retain the Welsh Premier title. "A lot of talk is going around at the moment that we are going to go the season without losing but I am not intererested in records and, as long as we remain in a position to retain the title, I will be happy.
"I have been under pressure to win every game since I took the job and that remains the case, as we are the league's most established professional side," he added.
Saints go into the game without John Leah, serving the final leg of his three-match ban, while Welshpool rule out defender John Keegan who sustained a suspected fractured cheekbone on Boxing Day.
