Marc Lloyd Williams fires Saints' third goal at Farrar Road.
Bangor City 2-3 TNS
Welsh Premier League
Sunday 22 January 2006: Away - Farrar Road
SAINTS maintained their 14-point lead at the top of the Welsh Premier with a 3-2 success at Farrar Road.
But what should have been a comfortable victory after establishing a three-goal cushion ended with a scoreline that was more than flattering to Bangor.
The game was virtually over as a contest within the first five minutes. A superb crossfield ball from Steve Evans found Nicky Evans wide on the left and he beat Kenny Burgess before squaring for Jamie Wood to open the TNS account.
Two minutes later, Clayton Blackmore's first game in charge of the Citizens started to develop into a nightmare as he could only clear Wood's first time shot to Steven Beck, who fired past keeper Andy Price into the far corner.
When Marc Lloyd Williams turned in Ward's cross on 33 minutes, a cricket score looked a distinct possibility. But, although TNS continued to pepper the City goal, with Beck hitting the crossbar, Bangor got a foothold in the game when sloppy defending allowed Paul Roberts to cross for an unmarked Carl Lamb to head past Gerard Doherty.
The Saints squandered some more chances before debutante Keiran Killackey forced a superb save from Doherty, but the keeper could only save a late Roberts effort with his legs and the striker pounced to slot home the rebound.
And Bangor could even have snatched an unlikely and undeserved equaliser when Mike Walsh dragged his shot wide of a post from Layton Maxwell's pass.
